| Tom Waits opens tour with Valley dates | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| By Chris Hansen Orf, Get Out | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| May 6, 2008 | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Long a critic's darling, Waits may not have scored hits for himself with his songs, but plenty of other artists such as the Eagles ("Ol' '55"), Bruce Springsteen ("Jersey Girl") and The Ramones ("I Don't Wanna Grow Up") have introduced his tunes to more mainstream audiences. Waits won a Grammy for best alternative music album for 1992's "Bone Machine" and another one for best contemporary folk album for 1999's "Mule Variations." Waits has also impacted pop culture as an actor, performing in such films as "Ironweed" (1987), "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (1992) and more recently in the 2006 indie film "Wristcutters: A Love Story." Ticket prices and an on-sale date for the Orpheum Theatre show have not yet been announced. For more information and a full list of tour dates, visit Waits' official Web site.
