With his 1986 debut album "Storms of Life," Travis, whose instantly recognizable baritone has drawn comparisons to legendary singers George Jones and Lefty Frizzell, redifined country music in an era where the "Urban Cowboy" pop style of country music had a grip on the industry. By reintroducing hardcore, pedal steel and fiddle-laced country, Travis ushered in the "New Traditionalist" era that paved the way for artists such as Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson and Clint Black. Travis was ranked 13th on the list of the "Top 40 Greatest Men of Country Music" on a Country Music Television special that aired in 2003. Best known for such smash country hits as "Forever and Ever, Amen," "Deeper Than the Holler" and the gospel tinged "Three Wooden Crosses," Travis will release his first country album in eight years (after a issuing a series of gospel recordings), titled "Around the Bend," on July 15th. Tickets for the Celebrity Theatre show, priced from $35-$55, go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, May 9, at the Celebrity Theatre box office and online at celebritytheatre.com.
