Intrinzik’s set at the Volume Night Club in Austin, Texas, for SXSW last month was a crowd pleasing rave-up of Intrinzik’s trademark rap/rock and included “My Favorite Song,” a joint Intrinzik wrote with late Detroit rap legend D12.

“It was definitely worth the time and effort getting down to 6th Street in Austin,” says Intrinzik of the showcase, which earned the rapper the respect of the local MCs.

Before Intrinzik’s set, Geto Boys’ Bushwick Bill hopped up and spat rhymes, not the first time the Valley rapper has been in the presence of the bad boy legend.

“We did a few shows with him a year or so ago — he’s pretty crazy,” Intrinzik says with a laugh.

The Marquee Theatre show kicks off at 6:30 p.m. $30. (480) 829-0607 or luckymanonline.com.

Dierks Bentley’s Country Thunder USA merch sales to benefit ailing friend

All of Valley native and country star Dierks Bentley’s merchandise sales at Country Thunder USA will go to benefit a friend of the singer who is recovering from complications of a surgery related to cystic fibrosis.

“He’s an old friend of mine from Phoenix — we never thought he’d make it past his 20s, and he’s gone through a lung transplant,” says Bentley, who says his friend wishes to remain anonymous. “Any T-shirt you wanna buy, anything from my merch table out at Country Thunder, we’re gonna give all the money to him,” Bentley says. “Every last cent of it is gonna go to him to help pay off his medical bills.”
