| Kona Grill in Chandler a place for the in crowd | ||||||||||||||||||||||

A see-and-be-seen crowd mingles on the spacious patio, which is filled with tables and features a bar. It’s equally slammed inside at the bar, which features a large fish tank and a few flat-screen TVs showing a basketball game. The loud sound of chatter almost drowns out the R&B and pop music being played overhead. The menu: Kona boasts a large sushi menu with offerings such as the Las Vegas Roll, Houston Roll, Sunshine Roll and Rainbow Roll along with pizzas, salads, seafood and meat specialties. There are also martinis, beers and sake on the cocktail menu. The music: Gwen Stefani, Shakira, Michelle Branch and Hilary Duff are a few of the sounds being pumped through speakers during our visit. Happy hour: Food and drink specials 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; reverse happy hour 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. The verdict: Besides patio nightspots such as Dos Gringos Mexigrill and Iguana Mack’s, Kona tops the list of the hottest bars in Chandler. Its only downfall is the early closing time. However, it’s a perfect spot to kick-start your night. REVIEW Kona Grill Where: 3111 W.
