The party kicks off 6 p.m. Friday, May 16, with the “A Hot Dog and a Smile...” charity barbecue hosted by Peacemakers drummer P.H. Naffah (all proceeds will go to Esparanza Para Los Niños). On Saturday, May 17, the band will perform in concert and on Sunday, May 18, the band hosts its “Hangover Brunch” at JJ’s Cantina in Cholla Bay. Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers just released their fifth studio disc, “Turbo Ocho,” last month. Tickets for “Circus Mexicus,” priced at $28, are on sale now at peacetimegoods.com.

Roomful of Blues to headline Glendale jazz and blues fest
It seems like every weekend so far this month there has been a music festival in the Valley, and this weekend music fans can enjoy the mild temperatures and sun at the Glendale Jazz and Blues Festival. The festival, which runs 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 12, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 13, features a jazz stage and a blues stage with some of the biggest names in the selected genres. Acts on the blues stage include headliners The Tommy Castro Band (Saturday) and Roomful of Blues (Sunday); the jazz stage will feature Saturday headliners Stanley Jordan Trio and David “Fathead” Newman featuring the Papa John DeFrancesco Trio on Sunday.

Local acts include Hans Olson and Sistah Blue on Saturday and Valley legends Big Pete Pearson, The Chuck Hall Band and Bob Corritore (appearing with Dave Riley) on Sunday. The festival, now in its 25th year, will take place at 58th and Glendale avenues in downtown Glendale. Admission is free. For more information, call (623) 930-2299 or visit glendaleaz.com/events.
