Linkin Park, one of the biggest selling bands of the new millennium, will bring its Projeckt Revolution 2008 tour to Cricket Wireless Pavilion, 2121 N. 83rd Ave., Phoenix, on Thursday, August 7, it was announced Friday.

The L.A. based nu-metal band, whose lead singer Chester Bennington is a Valley native who played with local hard rockers Grey Daze in the mid-'90s, rocketed to prominence with their debut disc, "Hybrid Theory" (2000), which was the highest selling album of the year with almost 5 million units sold.

Linkin Park's subsequent albums, "Meteora" (2003) and "Minutes to Midnight" (2007) have seen the band move away from the rock/rap hybrid of their debut towards a more mainstream hard rock style.

The two stage Projekt Revolution 2008 tour will also feature solo artist and former Soundgarden and Audioslave vocalist Chris Cornell, alt-pop/electronica group The Bravery, metal band Atreyu and alt-rockers Hawthorne Heights.

Tickets for the Cricket Wireless Pavilion show, priced from $27-$77, go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Cricket Wireless Pavilion box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and online at ticketmaster.com and livenation.com.
