| March 24, 2008 | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Michael — who has been a tabloid staple in recent years for his troubles behind the wheel, marijuana abuse and a Beverly Hills arrest for lewd conduct in 1998 — is coming off the successful European swing of his “25 Live” tour. Michael, 44, will play 22 shows on these shores in a seven-week period, kicking off the tour in San Diego on June 17 and wrapping things up in Sunrise, Fla., on Aug. 3. With Wham!, the singer scored No. 1 hits with “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” and “Careless Whisper” (both in 1984), and as a solo artist Michael landed four straight singles, including “Faith,” “Father Figure,” “One More Try” and "Monkey,” at No. 1 between 1987and 1988. Michael’s last studio disc, “Patience,” was released in 2004. Tickets for the US Airways Arena show, priced from $50-$120, go on sale 10 a.m. Monday, April 7, at the US Airways box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and online at livenation.com.
