| Guedo’s Cantina Grill brings the beach to Chandler | ||||
| By Kelly Wilson, For Get Out | ||||
| February 21, 2008 | ||||
There are straw-covered umbrellas, a string of Christmas lights that run across the small bar and a flat-screen TV showing an episode of “Two and a Half Men.” Several heat lamps are blazing on this chilly night. An airplane constructed of Tecate cans hangs from the bar and a photo of a parrot holding a margarita that says “Polly want a cocktail?” hangs behind the bar. Guedo Samora, the bartender and owner who constructed the beach bar, tells us they’re going to add island-style live music on Fridays at the end of the month. The menu: Mexican food such as tacos, burros, cheese crisps and tortas along with Mexican beer and margaritas. The music: Spanish music plays through speakers. Happy hour: $2 featured Mexican beer, $4 margaritas and complimentary chips and warm bean dip 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays. The verdict: Sun, sand and margaritas make for the ultimate day-drinking combination. The only thing missing is the surf. You’ll still feel like you’re in Mexico nonetheless.
